Appendix C includes case studies which provide examples of ways to manage the risk of fatigue in various industries, i.e. a case study regarding an accounting firm.
AST SFWK developing model code of practice to guide persons conducting business or undertaking (PCBUs) managing workplace fatigue, supported by members, regulators.
Code provides guidance on achieving Work health and safety act and regs standards.
Code will be admissible in AST Court as evidence of workplace hazards, risks, controls.
Code Overview
Defines fatigue as acute/ongoing state leading to physical, mental or emotional exhaustion; covers three main hazard categories including individual factors.
Addresses direct health impacts and safety risks from fatigue-impaired performance.
PCBUs must manage fatigue risks through systematic risk management process.
Requires consultation with workers and health and safety representatives (HSRs) when identifying hazards and making control decisions; officers' duty to ensure compliance.
