On Oct. 17, AST NSW FT discussed legislative approach to insurance.
AST NSW FT stated the Christopher Minns Labor Government met with representatives of the private health insurance (PHI) sector, on Oct. 17, 2024, in order to discuss its members’ use of the public hospital system along with refusal to pay their bills.
While no alternative solutions were proposed, the parties agreed to continue dialog.
Ongoing standoff is costing taxpayers AUD140mn/year; NSW Government will continue with implementing same legislative approach as led by former Treasurer in 2013.
Thereby, enabling it to resolve issue; NSW Government has met with representatives of the private health insurance sector more than 20 times since May of 2024.
