EBA MiCA Liquidity Stress Test Guide


On Jun. 19, EBA finalized guidelines on MiCA liquidity stress testing.


  • EBA issued final guidelines on liquidity stress testing under the Markets in crypto-assets regulation (MiCA Reg 2023/1114) as part of last package of technical standards.
  • Follows EBA Nov. 2023 consulted on draft RTS and guidelines re MiCA, see #190667.
  • On same day EBA issued final MiCA regulatory technical standards, see #216553.
  • Guidelines on Liquidity Stress Testing
  • Guidelines lay out the risks to be covered in the liquidity stress testing and identify the common reference parameters of stress test scenarios to be included in the testing.
  • Following application of guidelines, supervisor may strengthen liquidity requirements of relevant issuer to cover those risks based on outcome of liquidity stress testing.
  • Next Steps
  • The guidelines will be translated into official EU languages, published on EBA website.
  • Deadline for competent authorities to report whether they comply with the guidelines will be two months after the publication of the translations.
