Allegations
From as early as 2015, LeoPalace provided non-Japanese employees, including certain former employees of American national origin in Guam with less favorable wages.
The Americans of national origin were also paid less benefits, terms and conditions of employment compared to Japanese employees who held equal or lesser positions.
The conduct violated Title VII of the Civil rights act of 1964,42 USC 2000e, et seq.
Enforcement
LeoPalace Resort has been ordered to pay $1,412,500 and agreed to comprehensive injunctive relief, including hiring an external equal employment opportunity monitor.
The relief involves training and review of policies and procedures, overseeing the reinstatement of former employees interested in going back to work for LeoPalace.
The monitor will also conduct periodic audits and will report to the EEOC.
