UK OFCOM issued quick guides on implementing highly effective age assurance, and children's access assessments (PDF) that services must provide to protect children.
Such as explaining how services can effectively assure the ages of their users.
UK OFCOM explains the new rules and outlines steps for compliance by providers.
Children's Access Assessments
Services that do not have highly effective age assurance in place must review if children are likely to be on the service or part of the service and become users.
This is either because the service, or that part of it has a significant number of users who are children, or because it is likely to attract a significant number of children.
Services that are likely to attract children will have additional duties to protect children online, including conducting a children's risk assessment and adding safety measures.
Those under the Act after Jan. 16, 2025, have 3 months to complete assessments.
Effectiveness
Part 3 user-to-user and search services must conduct children's access assessment by Apr. 16, 2025.
