IND NPC Required Encryption Protocol


On Nov. 18, IND NPC said it is implementing advanced encryption.


  • IND NPC said it is implementing advanced encryption standard (AES) as mandatory encryption protocol in the Online Mandate Gateway Service (ONMAGS) application.
  • This circular is addressed to all National Automated Clearing House (referred to as the NACH) member banks, along with corporates and aggregators participating in NACH.
  • AES Encryption
  • Aims to enhance data security as well as align with modern encryption standards.
  • AES encryption will be enforced for all authentication modes within the application.
  • Technical requirements are provided in annexure I; banks, corporates ready with new encryption methodology can approach NPC for certification to transition to production.
  • Non-compliance will lead to discontinuation of services for the affected participants.
  • Effectiveness
  • Members must adopt the new encryption methodology by Jan. 31, 2025.
