Recalls on Dec. 11, 2024 Istat published, together with joint press release of Istat, the Chamber of Commerce and tax system: structure of ATECO 2025 classification to detail at national level contents expressed in EU classification (NACE Rev 2.1).

On Feb. 7, 2025, Istat integrated documentation with publication of correspondence reports between classifications of economic activities ATECO 2025 and 2022 update of ATECO 2007 (so-called correspondence table).
New classification will be adopted in Italy starting from Apr. 1, 2025 to allow its operational implementation by various administrations that use it for primary production of administrative data and for collection, dissemination of statistical data.
ITA CB, taking into account decisions adopted by EU authorities with competences on harmonized reporting, provides in this communication dates of application of new classification to production of statistical and supervisory reports under its jurisdiction.
New classification will be implemented only in new AS; therefore, entities must send NACE of non-resident entities established after Apr. 1 and before May 12 or updated in that period according to NACE classification version 2; specific details on deadlines.

NACE Revision 2.1 classification provides for inclusion of new classifications to represent in more precise way evolution of international production, economic fabric.
At same time, it keeps structure of classifications unchanged if update not necessary.
National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) is currently in process of revising ATECO 2025 classification to detail at national level contents expressed in the NACE Rev 2.1.
ITA CB constantly monitors these developments and has started appropriate analysis activities for adaptation of information and reporting systems to new classifications.
Further communications on application of new classification for production of statistical and supervisory reports will follow, well in advance of the effective date.
