Follows Aug. 20 White House approval of disaster declaration for State of Nebraska.
FEMADisaster Assistance
FEMA reported public assistance federal funding is available to state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis.
Federal funding is available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures.
On the same day, NEB LEG reported assistance available for the foregoing counties.
Lincoln County, included in declaration, did not qualify for inclusion in federal request.
HUD, SBA Disaster Assistance
HUD is providing a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures of FHA-insured mortgages and foreclosures of mortgages to Native American borrowers guaranteed per Section 184.
Also 90-day extension for Home Equity Conversion Mortgages, effective on President’s disaster declaration date; homeowners should contact their mortgage or loan servicer.
Conventional mortgage holders may be eligible for relief through the mortgage holder.
SBA offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) to meet working capital needs, to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and bills that cannot be paid due to disaster.
Deadline to apply for property damage is Oct. 21, 2024, and EIDL, due May 20, 2025.
