Key Aspects
EC issued letter of formal notice to Member States that have failed to notify national measures transposing directives whose transposition deadline expired recently.
26 States did not notify full transposition measures for dir in climate, defense fields.
States concerned now have 2 months to reply to letters of formal notice and complete the transposition or EC may decide to issue reasoned opinion (2nd step of procedure).
ETS2: Member States are working on transposition measures but 26 (all but Austria) have not communicated full transposition into national law of ETS2 by Jun. 30, 2024.
Defense: EC called on DEN, NLD, SLV and FIN to notify measures transposing in full Directive 2024/242 on the list of defense-related products.
Effectiveness
Member States have until Sep. 25, 2024, to notify measures.
