MD INS issued Bulletin 24-19 repealing pre-licensing education, experience obligations for insurance producers required to pass exam as qualification for producer license.
Follows SB 336/HB 265 on insurance producer licensing requirements, #207264.
Education Removal
Applicants required to pass examination as qualification for a producer license will no longer be required to complete a program of study that has been established.
Nor meet minimum experience requirements prior to taking the examination.
Roster for active pre-licensing providers and pre-licensing courses inactive as of Sep. 30, 2024; pre-licensing course completion rosters no longer accepted after Sep. 30.
Applicants cannot schedule exams from Sep. 27 to Sep. 30 due to system updates.
Once law becomes effective, the Administration will no longer provide a list of pre-licensing education courses or providers; candidates may find their own exam courses.
Effectiveness
Repeal of education and experience requirements is effective Oct. 1, 2024.
