White House approved a Puerto Rico disaster declaration relating to severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides occurring from Apr. 29 to May 10, 2024.
Eligibility
Federal funding for disaster recovery is available to Commonwealth and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis.
The assistance is intended for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides.
Eligible entities include Adjuntas, Guánica, Lajas, Las Marías, Luquillo, Maricao, Naranjito, Orocovis, Sábana Grande, San Sebastián, Toa Alta, Utuado, and Yauco.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures for municipalities and other entities throughout the entire Commonwealth.
Damage assessments are continuing in other areas, and more counties and additional forms of assistance may be designated after the assessments are fully completed.

Jul. 31, 2024 SBA Fed Reg Public Aid
On Jul. 31, 2024, SBA published notice of presidential declaration of a major disaster for public assistance only for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in the federal register.
The Notice provided that private nonprofit organizations that provide services of a governmental nature may file disaster loan applications using SBA's online portal.
Loans are available in Adjuntas, Guánica, Lajas, Las Marìas, Luquillo, Maricao, Naranjito, Orocovis, Sàbana Grande, San Sebastìan, Toa Alta, Utuado, Yauco.
Number assigned for physical damage is 204826 and for economic injury is 204830.
Aug. 2024 FEMA Reimbursement Notice
On Aug. 27, 2024, FEMA issued public notice on intent to reimburse eligible applicants to repair facilities damaged by severe storms, flooding from Apr. 29 to May 10, 2024.
