  • On Jun. 24, 2024, FEMA reported availability of disaster unemployment assistance for counties that are part of the Kentucky disaster declaration, due to loss of income.
  • For workers/self-employed, or those who were scheduled to work or begin self-employment and could not work due to damage/destruction to place of employment.
  • Applicants must establish that the work or self-employment was their primary source of income, and do not qualify for regular state unemployment insurance benefits.
  • Must show that they cannot work or resume self-employment because of disaster-related injury, or became breadwinner/major support due to death of breadwinner.
  • Deadline to apply for this assistance is Aug. 12, 2024.
  • Jun. 27, 2024 FEMA Renters Assistance
  • On Jun. 27, 2024, FEMA reported aid available to Kentucky renters, including students, and homeowners in Boyd, Carter, Fayette, Greenup, Henry, Jefferson and Jessamine.
  • As well as, Mason, Oldham, Union and Whitley counties with losses from the Apr. 2, 2024, severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, landslides and mudslides.
  • Renters may also qualify for a grant under FEMA’s Other Needs Assistance program for uninsured essential personal property losses and other disaster-related expenses.
  • Follows Jun. 26, 2024, FEMA issued aid citizenship, immigration status requirements.
