Bill Provisions
Family/medical leave insurance (PFMLI) law gives up to 12 weeks of wage replacement benefits and other benefits; amendment changes annual reporting date to Sep.
Amendment also removes the authority to impose penalties for attempted fraud and authority to recover benefit overpayments and penalties through a wage execution.
Employers must register with the PFMLI Authority, and submit reports required by the authority in a set format; employers that are noncompliant are subject to penalties.
Authority must charge anyone who was overpaid or assessed any PFMLI-related penalty with the amount due, commissioner can seek reimbursement from income tax.
PFMLI Authority must develop/approve an informational poster for health care providers, allows claiming of PFMLI benefits with the victim compensation program.
