MN LEG Labor Policy, Minimum Wage

  • MN LEG passed SF 3852 (HF 3947) re labor policy provisions, minimum wage, hiring.
  • Amends MN LEG 13.97 on data, MN LEG 177.24 on wages, MN LEG 177.30 on record keeping, and various section of MN LEG 179, entitled Minnesota Labor Relations Act.
  • Bill Provisions
  • Makes updates to minimum wage provisions, gratuity wage provisions, definitions.
  • Large employer means an enterprise whose annual gross volume of sales made or business done is not less than $500,000, exclusive of excise taxes at the retail level.
  • Removes minimum wage disparity between what small and large employer must play.
  • Gratuities received by an employee should be credited to that pay period in which they are received, and full amount of gratuity must be paid by next scheduled pay period.
  • An employer must disclose in each posting for each job opening with the employer the starting salary range, and a general description of all of benefits and compensation.
  • Includes but not limited to any health or retirement benefits, to be offered to employee
  • During leave for which an employee is entitled to benefits, the employer must maintain coverage under group insurance policy, group subscriber contract, or health care plan.
  • That employee must continue to pay any employee share of the cost of the benefits.
