Aims to eliminate the need for small businesses to incur the expense of engaging counsel to represent their businesses in administrative proceedings before MD INS.
Provisions amended MD INS 2-213 regarding insurance hearing requirements.
Bill Provisions
Allows certain business entities that are small employers to be represented by certain authorized individuals rather than an attorney in certain hearings held by the MD INS.
Business entity is corporation/partnership/limited liability company/sole proprietorship.
Business entity must provide proof that it meets the definition of small employer.
May not contract with/employ another business entity to provide appearance services.
Deisgnated employee must provide a power of attorney sworn by employer that certifies that the designated employee is an authorized agent of the business entity.
