  • Since Jul. 1, 2022 electronic invoices have been deployed nationwide for businesses.
  • Accordingly, all businesses operating in the direct-to-consumer sector (i.e. commercial centers, supermarkets, food and beverage, restaurants, etc.) have used e-invoices.
  • Businesses are set to roll out e-invoices generated from cash registers by Mar. 2023.
  • In phase 1 of the implementation plan, 805 businesses have officially registered and accepted to register to use e-invoices from the cash register on tax authority's system.
  • The use of e-invoices from cash registers is low because current regulations still allow a business establishment to use multiple forms of e-invoice at the same time.
  • It takes time for business establishments to upgrade and change the application software of the cash registers at each point of sale to unify the invoice issuance from the cash register throughout the system, especially the cash register model.
  • MoF will focus on three areas re implementation - Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City.
  • The MoF will announce an implementation plan for the e-invoice, cash register rollout.
  • Strengthen Coordination
  • VIE Tax instructed the tax departments to focus and enhance the communication to taxpayers about the benefits of the e-invoice created from the cash register.
  • Ability to be more proactive in correcting errors caused by e-invoice from the register.
  • It is possible to set up multiple cash registers to better serve customer requirements.
  • If taxpayers use e-invoices with regular codes, issuance of invoices will not be quick.
  • Ministries and sectors, especially in the field of production and business management, need to further promote coordination with the ministry of finance in communicating to business people about the benefits of e-invoices created from cash registers.
  • To successfully deploy the e-invoice created from the cash register, it is necessary to divide into groups of solutions, including a group that adds the system data.
  • Plus a group that will verify and set a roadmap for implementation, thereby forming a data warehouse, moving towards managing and maximizing tax losses.
