TX LEG passed bill SB 896, HB 1101, with regard to the enrollment period for newborns under certain employer health benefit plans, amending the insurance code.
Extension of the newborn enrollment period for parents covered under multiple employer welfare arrangements (MEWAs), small or large employer benefit plans.
Such parents will have an extension on enrollment of newborns into their employer health benefit plan from 31 days after the child's birth date to 60 days after that date.
Also, requirement for individual or group health benefit plans under TX INS 8-E-1367-A-1367, of insurance code to cover a newborn child for 60 days after the child's birth.
