The bills would incorporate a new Chapter 5.9, Generative Artificial Intelligence Tools, into Part 1 of Division 3 of Title 2 of the Government Code, CAL LEG 2-3-1.
Bill Provisions
Existing law requires the Secretary of Government Operations to developing standards for new technologies for state departments to determine digital content provenance.
This Bill would require the Department of Technology to perform a risk analysis of potential threats posed by generative artificial intelligence to California’s infrastructure.
Requires a high-level summary of the analysis be provided annually to the Legislature.
A disclaimer and instructions must be used by state agency that utilizes artificial intelligence to communicate with a person regarding government services or benefits.
