US IRS announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in Mississippi impacted by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding beginning May 6, 2026.
Relief applies to individuals and businesses in 5 counties affected by the storms.
Tax Relief
Deadlines falling on/after Apr. 10 and before Nov.2 are granted additional time to file.
Nov. 2, 2026, deadline applies to individuals who normally would have been required to file their 2025 individual income tax returns and pay any tax due on Apr. 15, 2026.
Penalties on payroll and excise tax deposits due on or after Apr. 10, 2026, and before Apr. 27, 2026, will be abated as long as the tax deposits are made by Apr. 27, 2026.
The Nov. 2, 2026, deadline also applies to affected quarterly payroll and certain excise tax returns normally due on Apr. 30 and Jul. 31, 2026.
Affected taxpayers include individuals who live, and businesses (including tax-exempt organizations) whose place of business is located in the covered disaster area.
Taxpayers not in the covered disaster area, but whose records necessary to meet a deadline are in the covered disaster area, are also entitled to relief.
Estimated taxes due on or after Apr. 10, 2026, are postponed through Nov. 2, 2026.
