On Feb. 5, 2025, RSA LAB issued notice of adjustment to national minimum wage.
Upward adjustment for 2025 from R27,58 to R28,79 for each ordinary hour worked.
The 4.2 % increase shall apply to all workers: cannot be varied by contract, collective agreement or law; unfair labour practice for an employer to unilaterally alter hours of work or other conditions of employment in implementing the national minimum wage.

RSA LAB issued notice in government gazette inviting input on recommendations concerning investigation into possible adjustment to the national minimum wage.
Follows RSA GVT Feb. 2024 amended national minimum wages, see #194138.
Investigation
NMW Commission is conducting an investigation into possible adjustments to national minimum wage, to submit its recommendations to Minister of Employment and Labour.
Per section 6(2), National Minimum Wage Act, No. 9 of 2018.
Recommendations will be considered by the Commission before it publishes its annual report, recommendations on annual review of national minimum wage later in the year.
Effectiveness
Closing date for submission of written comments / representations is Sep. 30, 2024.
Dec. 18, 2024 Responses Published
On Dec. 18, 2024, RSA GVT published an overview of responses to the consultation in the government gazette, and invited further comments until Jan. 14, 2025.
Recommends for 2025 to be adjusted by the rate of consumer price index, plus 1.5%.
