Bill Provisions
Defines terms relevant to section such as health benefit plan, Iatrogenic infertility, reproductive age, Standard fertility preservation services, and religious employer.
Any health plan offered or renewed on or after the effective date must provide coverage for standard fertility preservation services for qualified individuals.
To obtain service must be diagnosed with cancer and within reproductive age, when a medically necessary treatment may directly or indirectly cause iatrogenic infertility.
Clarified that standard fertility preservation services shall not include storage.
Plan may not require preauthorization for such coverage but may set maximum benefits and apply the same deductible, copayment, and reasonable limitations.
Religious employer may submit a written request for exemption to a carrier and carrier must grant if coverage conflicts with employer's bona fide beliefs and practices.
Exempt employer must provide prospective enrollees of its health benefit plan with written notice of the exemption; the employee may purchase their own coverage.
