EU CNCL decided to extend restrictive measures associated with internal repression in Belarus and the regime's backing of Russia's war against Ukraine for another year.
Follows EU CNCL Feb. 2023 extended Belarus restrictive measures, see #164538.
Overview
Decision reflects persistent repression, worsening human rights conditions in Belarus.
Plus, continuing involvement in Russia's illegal military aggression against Ukraine.
Individual measures include an asset freeze and prohibiting the availability of funds.
Natural persons are additionally subject to a ban on travel.
Currently 233 individuals, including Alexandr Lukashenka, and 37 entities are listed.
Belarus also remains subject to targeted economic sanctions, incl restrictions in the financial sector, trade, dual-use goods, technology/telecommunication, energy, etc.

Effectiveness
The measures now apply until Feb. 28, 2025.
