POR GVT published Decree-law 85-B/2025 of Jun. 30, 2025 which extends the validity of residence permits relating to the stay of foreign citizens in national territory.

Key Provisions
Extends validity of residence permits for foreign nationals until Oct. 15, 2025.
Applies to permits whose validity ended between Feb. 22, 2020 and Jun. 30, 2025.
These residence permits will be accepted, under the same terms, until Oct. 15, 2025.
After Oct. 15, 2025, documents relating to residence permits will be accepted upon presentation by holder of a document proving payment of application for their renewal.
These documents will be issued by the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum, IP (AIMA, IP), and will be valid for 180 days, counting from their issuance.
Effectiveness
Decree-law entered into force on the day following its publication, i.e. Jul. 1, 2025.
