On Mar. 17, HK SII launched pioneering certification program.
HK SII launched a Certification program for virtual asset professionals (CVAP), first of its kind for practitioners managing, advising on, or dealing with virtual assets (VA).
The program was developed in consultation with HK SFC and industry experts via a Virtual asset working group, in order to align with local regulatory expectations.
Certification Program
CVAP aims to establish baseline core competencies for financial services practitioners involved in VA-related services; also supports HK’s goal of becoming a global VA hub.
Covers key topics such as blockchain fundamentals, wallet types, product risks, real-world applications, and legal and regulatory compliance, by addressing awareness gap.
Designed for traditional financial practitioners looking to expand their knowledge in VA and university students preparing for careers in the evolving financial sector.
Follows a two-step certification process, consisting of core curriculum that covers regulatory, industry, product-specific topics, followed by business-focused electives.
Upon completing the program, participants will earn five continuous professional training hours and receive the Certificate of virtual asset professional.
Effectiveness
First examination is scheduled for May 15, 2025, with subsequent monthly exams.
