Ensures prohibitions intended for certain export and import sanctioned goods, including in eight 2012-2016 instruments re Iran and Syria, have legal force.
These prohibitions apply to all individuals and businesses in Australia, and Australians and Australian businesses overseas.
Validation of Sanctioned Goods Instruments
S27A covers instruments, whether or not still in force, in which the Minister specified or designated export or import sanctioned goods for a country or part of it.
Where such an instrument would not have applied or been enforceable before commencement only because it was not registered, it is taken to have been registered.
Anything done that would have been invalid or unlawful but for this is taken to be, and always to have been, valid and lawful, despite any effect on accrued rights.
S27A applies in relation to civil and criminal proceedings, including proceedings that are pending or concluded.
