WIS INS Agent Appointment Renewals


On Nov. 14, WIS INS issued bulletin on agent appointment renewals.


  • WIS INS Office of commissioner of insurance (OCI) issued bulletin with instructions regarding company appointments; agent appointment renewal invoices due in 2025.
  • Agent Appointment Renewal
  • WIS INS will process all company appointments electronically using National insurance producer registry (NIPR); invoice includes resident/nonresident appointment renewals.
  • Appointment billings become available, payments may be submitted Jan. 5, 2025.
  • Appointment invoice, list of agents associated with invoice will be available on NIPR.
  • NIPR website will show invoice, agent list from Jan. 5, 2025, through Mar. 15, 2025.
  • Appointment terminations can only be processed for appointments that are shown as active on producer data base (PDB) at time termination transaction is sent to NIPR.
  • The appointments added on or after Jan. 1, 2025, will be assigned 2025 renewal date.
  • Appointments assigned a 2025 renewal date will not be included on this year's invoice.
  • Appointment Process
  • Companies qualified for OCI exemption from electronic appointment process must set up account with NIPR or authorized business partners to submit their appointments
  • Agent appointments terminated if company doesn't pay renewal invoice by Mar. 2025
  • In order to activate terminated appointments, the company will need to reappoint, pay initial appointment fees again; NIPR transaction processing fees are nonrefundable.
  • By using NIPR's electronic appointment renewals, NIPR invoice will be updated as paid.
  • Transactions to renew appointment will be forwarded to OCI within 24 business hours.
  • NIPR website will update to display invoice as paid after payment has been received.
  • The appointee must hold intermediary (agent) individual license class on PDB.
  • Intermediary/agent individual license class PDB/PIN codes are 9294/9294.
  • Deadlines
  • Agents appear on renewal list unless terminated by 11:59pm CST on Dec. 31, 2024.
  • The deadline to submit an agent termination is 11:59pm on Dec. 31, 2024.
  • Per WIS INS, no reconciliation will be allowed on or after Jan. 1, 2025.
  • Agent appointment renewal invoices must be paid by Mar. 15, 2025.
