  • On Feb. 20, 2024, EU CNCL issued Dec 2024/633 of Feb. 19, 2024, amends Dec (CFSP) 2022/266 concerning restrictive measures in response to illegal recognition, occupation or annexation by Russia of certain non-government controlled areas of Ukraine.
  • Restrictive measures shall be renewed for a further 12 months, until Feb. 24, 2025.

On Feb. 21, EU CNCL renewed restrictions against Russia for a year.

  • EU CNCL decided to renew restrictions until Feb. 24, 2024 after review of Dec (CFSP) 2022/266, in view of Russian Federation’s continuing illegal actions against Ukraine.
  • Issued Council Dec (CFSP) 2023/388 of Feb. 20, 2023 amending Dec (CFSP) 2022/266 concerning restrictive measures in response to the illegal recognition, occupation or annexation by Russia of certain non-government controlled areas of Ukraine in the OJ.
  • Effectiveness
  • The decision shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (i.e. Feb. 22, 2023) until Feb. 24, 2024.
  • Mar. 2023 Third Countries' Alignment
  • On Mar. 10, 2023, EU CNCL issued a statement on the alignment of certain countries.
  • Candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine; potential candidate country Georgia; EFTA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein, and EEA members, align with Dec 2023/388, and will ensure national policies conform.
