Overview
Residents who are 18 years of age or older as of Dec. 31, 2023, or who turn 18 on or after Jan. 1, 2024 are required to register for their TIN.
A TIN certificate will be given to every person who registers for a TIN.
Transactions Requiring a TIN
A valid TIN certificate will be required to open any bank account at any bank or financial institution, obtain a credit card, or to transfer company shares.
Plus obtain approval for a building plan, register land or title to land, or register a business, or renew motor vehicles licenses.
Effective Date
The mandatory submission of TIN certificates for transactions will be effective beginning Nov. 1, 2026.
