On Jul. 13, 2026, Thai CB said it will suspendBank of Thailand Automated High-value Transfer Network (BAHTNET) operations on Oct. 16, 2026, which has been designated a special holiday in Bangkok area to support IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings.
The suspension will affect BAHTNET fund transfers, interbank clearing cheque deposits, and the electronic interbank bulk (retail) payment system.
Thai CB will not conduct money market transactions or announce reference rates that day.
Bond and debt instrument services, including principal and interest payments, will also be suspended; any payments due on Oct. 16 will be deferred to the next business day.
Users should complete high-value transfers, cheque deposits, or payroll/vendor payments before Oct. 16, or defer to the next business day.
BAHTNET resumes normal service on Oct. 19, 2026; retail channels (mobile banking, ATMs, CDMs) remain available as usual.
FIs are directed to notify affected customers and relevant parties, and to plan transactions for another business day.
On Jun. 9, Thai CB announced additional holiday for Bangkok financial institutions.
Thai CB said financial institutions and specialized financial institutions in Bangkok will observe an additional holiday on Oct. 16, 2026.
However, financial institutions or specialized financial institutions with essential operations that cannot be suspended without causing disruption to public services may take necessary measures as appropriate.
Thai CB also encouraged work-from-home arrangements on Oct. 12, 14, and 15, 2026 for non-customer-facing operations to support the hosting of the 2026 WRLD BK-IMF Annual Meetings.
Jun. 2026 Thai SEC Banking Holiday
On Jun. 16, 2026, Thai SEC said it will also observe Oct. 16, 2026 as an additional holiday for securities companies and derivatives business operators.
Thai SEC also requested cooperation from securities companies and derivatives business operators to consider the above-mentioned work-from-home arrangements.
