Overview of Revisions
Extend the paternity leave period to 20 days from the current 10 days, increase the number of times that the period can be split to three times from the current one time.
Extend the period for leave of absence for sub-fertility treatment to 6 days from 3 days per year, the number of paid leave days to the first two days from only the first day.
Where parents respectively use childcare leave for more than 3 months, childcare leave can be used for up to 6 extra months; for unused childcare leave period, the doubled period will be added to the period of reduced working hours for childcare.
Employees can apply for reduced working hours for period of childcare where their child is aged 12 years or younger or in the sixth grade or lower of elementary school.
Effectiveness
The revised act will be implemented from Feb. 23, 2025.
