BEL GVT published Royal Decree of Mar. 12, 2024 implementing ch 2 of the Law of Nov. 29, 2022 relating to various provisions on health care, relating to the application of the ban on supplementary fees for health care carried out by doctors to beneficiaries of the increased insurance intervention.
Main Points
The aim of introducing the ban was to preserve the accessibility of outpatient care.
Contracted healthcare providers are obliged to respect the prices set in agreements and conventions, which guarantee price security, policyholders' financial accessibility.
The royal decree brings into force the ban on the billing of additional fees in the outpatient sector for all care providers, with the exception of dental practitioners.
Effectiveness
Royal Decree's provisions will come into force on Jan. 1, 2025 and on Jan. 1, 2026.
