SBA offered Economic injury disaster loan (EIDL) assistance to Mid-Atlantic small businesses affected by the Francis Scott Key bridge collapse on Mar. 26, 2024.
Eligibility
Mid-Atlantic small businesses impacted by the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge and accompanying economic damage may apply for low-interest, long-term EIDLs.
Available in the entire state of Maryland and contiguous counties including the District of Columbia; also included Delaware counties of Kent, New Castle, and Sussex.
Also, PEN counties of Adams, Bedford, Chester, Fayette, Franklin, Fulton, Lancaster, Somerset, and York, VA Accomack, Independent City of Alexandria, Arlington.
Additional Virginia counties of Fairfax, and Loudoun; West Virginia counties of Berkley.
Also included counties of Grant, Hampshire, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan, and Preston.
EIDLs are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small aquaculture businesses, and private nonprofit organizations up to $2 million.
EIDLs are intended to help overcome temporary loss of revenue from collapse.
These loans may be used to pay normal operating expenses such as fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that can’t be paid because of the disruption.
Deadline
Completed EIDL applications must be submitted to SBA no later than Dec. 30, 2024.

On Apr. 4, 2024, SBA published economic injury disaster declaration in federal register.
The States of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia received EIDL Declaration from the SBA and may seek aid for the disaster.
May 2024 Administrative Declaration
On May 9, 2024, SBA publishedfederal register correction to MD disaster declaration.
Corrects original EIDL declaration eligibility to include King George, Northumberland, Prince William, Stafford, Westmoreland counties in Virginia as contiguous counties.
