  • SBA offered Economic injury disaster loan (EIDL) assistance to Mid-Atlantic small businesses affected by the Francis Scott Key bridge collapse on Mar. 26, 2024.
  • Eligibility
  • Mid-Atlantic small businesses impacted by the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge and accompanying economic damage may apply for low-interest, long-term EIDLs.
  • Available in the entire state of Maryland and contiguous counties including the District of Columbia; also included Delaware counties of Kent, New Castle, and Sussex.
  • Also, PEN counties of Adams, Bedford, Chester, Fayette, Franklin, Fulton, Lancaster, Somerset, and York, VA Accomack, Independent City of Alexandria, Arlington.
  • Additional Virginia counties of Fairfax, and Loudoun; West Virginia counties of Berkley.
  • Also included counties of Grant, Hampshire, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan, and Preston.
  • EIDLs are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small aquaculture businesses, and private nonprofit organizations up to $2 million.
  • EIDLs are intended to help overcome temporary loss of revenue from collapse.
  • These loans may be used to pay normal operating expenses such as fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that can’t be paid because of the disruption.

  • Completed EIDL applications must be submitted to SBA no later than Dec. 30, 2024.

  • On Apr. 4, 2024, SBA published economic injury disaster declaration in federal register.
  • The States of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia received EIDL Declaration from the SBA and may seek aid for the disaster.

  • On May 9, 2024, SBA published federal register correction to MD disaster declaration.
