On Apr. 4, NYDFS prohibited waiting period in stand-alone dental plan.
NYDFS reported that it will no longer permit stand-alone dental plans to have a waiting period requirement for most dental services in such plans, effective Jan. 1, 2025.
Applies to stand-alone dental plans offered through NY State Of Health.
Waiting periods will remain effective, up to 12 months, for orthodontic services.
Change is the first of a multi-phased initiative to improve dental products and to improve the dental plan shopping experience for a new plan for consumers.
