On Jan. 8, FEMA reported president approved disaster declaration.

  • FEMA reported President Biden approved a major disaster declaration for California in areas affected by wildfires and straight-line winds from Jan. 7, 2025, and continuing.
  • Funding is available to State, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofits on cost-sharing basis for debris removal, emergency protective measures.

  • On Jan. 10, 2025, SBA announced federal disaster loans are available to California businesses, private nonprofits, homeowners, renters in response to Jan. 2025 fires.
  • Economic injury disaster loans (EIDL) to meet working capital, debts, payroll, accounts payable, business assets, equipment, other expense due in direct response to wildfire.
  • Jan 17, 2025 SBA Nonprofit Relief, FEMA Housing
  • On Jan. 17, 2025, SBA reported certain private nonprofits (PNPs) may now apply for physical damage and economic losses (EIDLs) caused by wildfires that began Jan. 7.
  • PNPs that provide services of a governmental nature are eligible to apply for loans.
  • Applications for physical damage loans due by Mar. 17, 2025; for EIDLs Oct. 15.
  • On the same day, FEMA reported that wildfire survivors who received initial funding for Displacement Assistance, but still have a housing need, should reach out to FEMA.
  • Assistance helps survivors with up-front money to help with immediate housing needs.
  • Survivors may also be eligible for additional rental assistance for short-term housing.
