Amends UTA LEG 41-12a-8-804 on uninsured motorist identification database program
Bill Provisions
If a motorboat is not insured for 2 consecutive months, owner has 15 days to provide proof of owner's, operator's security, or proof of exemption from security requirements
In event owner of motorboat fails to provide satisfactory proof of security, designated agent shall provide second notice, provide information to local, state law enforcement.
The owner shall also be added to the uninsured motorist identification database.
Motor Vehicle Division shall provide appropriate notices of revocation, consequences of operating vehicle with revoked registration, instructions for reinstated registration.
Proof of security requirement shall apply during the months of Apr. through Oct.
Designated agent to comply with obligation to report to law enforcement year-round.
Requirement for Division and designated agent to send notice begins on Jan. 1, 2026.
Also clarifies which registration fees apply to certain vehicles, revises provisions related to sales and use taxes, updates definitions and makes technical changes.
