On Sep. 28, IND GVT, IND Tax announced 2026-27 income tax return extension.
IND GVT, IND Tax said the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) extended the due date for furnishing the return of income for assessment year (AY) 2026-27 from Oct. 31, 2026 to Nov. 21, 2026.
The extension covers persons at serial No. 2 in the table below explanation 2 to section 139(1) of the Income-tax Act, 1961, that is, persons whose accounts are required to be audited (including companies and partners of audited firms).
Accordingly, the specified date for furnishing of the report of audit is also extended to Oct. 21, 2026.
A formal order/notification will be issued separately.
Follows IND Tax Sep. 2025 said CBDT has further extended the due date of furnishing of return of income for assessment year (AY) 2025-26, see #261765.
