OKL LEG passed Bill SB 1920 in order to increases repair cost threshold for returning a vehicle title to Service Oklahoma from 60% to 70% of the vehicle’s fair market value.
Legislative Provisions
Amends Oklahoma Statutes OKL LEG 47-1111 (motor vehicles) to increase repair cost threshold to 70% to return title certificate to Service Oklahoma or a licensed operator.
If actual documented cost of repairing the vehicle for safe operation on the highway does not exceed 70% of fair market value, title will be reissued to the vehicle holder.
The vehicle will also not be subject to inspection as required under this section.
Salvage vehicle title issued by another State will be retained on the new title issued by Service Oklahoma unless documented repair cost does not exceed 70% fair market value.
Insurance company that pays loss claim where repair cost for safe operation exceeds 70% market value or pays flood claim, will notify title holder and Service Oklahoma.
