On Jan. 22, NY LEG passed insurance enrollment for pregnant women.
NY LEG passed bill AB 2656 (SB 0201), which will permit pregnant women to enroll in health insurance during a special enrollment period without any penalty or fee.
The bill amends NY INS 28-43-4328, Individual enrollee direct payment contracts.
Bill Provisions
State health insurance policy shall not impose a fee enrollment of pregnant individual.
Coverage effective 1st day of month where health care professional certifies pregnancy
Unless the individual elects to have coverage effective on the first day of the month following the date that the individual received certification of the pregnancy.
