On Nov. 15, LUX PRL issued bill amending minimum social wage rates.
LUX PRL issued bill 8459 in order to amend article L.222-9 of the Labor Code.
Purpose
Under article L.222-9, para 2, of the Labor Code, every 2 years, LUX GVT must submit to LUX PRL a report on the development of general economic conditions and incomes.
Accompanied, if needed, by a bill to increase the level of the minimum social wage.
Therefore, LUX GVT has the power to propose an increase in the minimum social wage.
This doesn't entail any legal obligation to increase the entire salary scale in companies.
The bill adapts the rates of the minimum social wage to the evolution of the average wage during the years 2022 and 2023 which will lead to an increase of 2.6%.
Effectiveness
The increase 2.6% in the minimum social wage is planned to apply on Jan. 1, 2025.
Nov. 27, 2024 Bill Progress
On Nov. 27, 2024, LUX PRL explained the social minimum wage is expected to rise from €2,570.93 to €2,637.79 per mth on Jan. 1, 2025 for a person working full-time.
This is what is provided for in bill 8459 that Labour Committee analyzed on Nov. 27.
Social minimum wage (SSM) is expected to increase by €66.86 for unskilled workers and €80.24 for skilled workers; minimum wage per hr from €14.8608 to €15.2473.
A vote in public session is scheduled for the week of Dec. 9, 2024.
