Law enters into force on Nov. 1, 2026, subject to art 9(2-4); arts 1(3), 7 and 8 in force on day after OG publication, i.e., Jun. 27, 2026.
Article 6 number 1, paragraphs 1 and 2, paragraph 5, as well as numbers 2 and 3, shall enter into force on Aug. 1, 2026.

On Apr. 1, GE PRL received bill implementing EU rules on ecodesign.
GE PRL received bill 21/5141 to modernize the national implementation of European regulations on ecodesign, energy labelling and other regulations.

Main Points
The bill implements EU Reg 2024/1781 in the Law on the environmentally sound design of products (Ecodesign Act-EcodesignG), and aligns laws with EU provisions.
I.e., amendments to the Energy Consumption Labelling Act, the Law against Restraints of Competition, the Market Surveillance Act, the Injunctions Act, the Mineral Oil Data Act, and amendments to the Energy Consumption-Related Products Act.
Effectiveness
The law is planned to enter into force on Aug. 1, 2026.
May 2026 Update
On May 21, 2026, GE GVT announced the Bundestag paved the way for modern regulations on ecodesign and energy consumption labelling.
Adopted legislative package submitted by Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy to modernize implementation of EU rules on ecodesign, energy labelling, other regs.
The adopted package comprehensively reforms existing national regulations in areas of ecodesign and energy labelling, aligns them with amended EU law; key is improved procedures to address non-compliance of ecodesign products, incorrect energy labels.
Further, the legislative package includes amendments to Mineral Oil Data Act to reduce bureaucracy for authorities and companies and improve data quality.
During the parliamentary process, targeted amendment to current Building Energy Act (GEG) was also added, which will be replaced by the new Building Modernization Act.

Amendment ensures a legally sound transition from GEG to Building Modernization Act.
65% renewable energy requirement for installation of a heating system will apply until it is repealed upon entry into force of future Building Modernization Act.
The new regulations on ecodesign and energy consumption labelling are scheduled to come into force on Nov. 1, 2026.
