Health and Wellness Screenings
Added Sec. 1368.017 to Health and Safety Code, (CAL LEG 2-2.2-5-1368.017), Sec. 10123.1991 to Insurance Code (CAL INS 2-2-1-1-10123.1991) re health coverage.
Defined behavioral health and wellness screening; required health care service plan to give enrollees a notice re benefits of a behavioral health and wellness screening.
Health and wellness screening applies to children, adolescents 8 to 18 years of age.
The annual notice details the benefits of the screenings for depression and anxiety.
Not applicable to Medi-Cal care that contracts with Dept. of Health Care Services per CAL LEG 9-3-7-14000, or CAL LEG 9-3-8-14200 of CAL Welfare and Institutions Code.
The only costs that may be incurred by a local agency or school district will be incurred because act creates/eliminates/changes the penalty for a new crime or infraction.
