Landlord Retaliation Act
Declares that it is against public policy for a landlord to take retaliatory action against a tenant, including increasing rent, ending tenancy, decrease services, or threatening.
If the landlord violates the Act, the tenant has a defense in any retaliatory action.
Also landlord will be subject to a civil action for damages and other appropriate relief.
Action is not retaliatory if the landlord can prove a legitimate, non-retaliatory basis for the actions or if landlord began the action before tenant engaged in protected activity.
