On Jun. 24, NH LEG issued bill on prosthetics coverage for children.
NH LEG issued Bill SB 177 requiring coverage for prosthetic, activity-specific devices.
For children under 19 years of age; required prosthetic coverage be provided by group insurance policies, health service corporations, health maintenance organizations.
Not applicable to plans available from small business health options program (SHOP).
Bill Provisions
Added new section NH INS 415:18-ff, coverage for prosthetic devices for children.
Provided for prosthetic devices, materials, usage instructions for enrollee, repairs.
Insurer may limit coverage for activity-specific prosthetic devices to one per plan year.
Medically necessary prosthetic devices shall not be subject to any annual limits.
Also amended NH INS 420-A:2, applicable statutes for health service corporations.
