Recalled in Dec. 2024 Istat published new classification detailing, at national level, contents of NACE Rev 2.11, in Feb. 2025 integrated documentation with publication of reports ATECO 2025 economic activity classifications, 2022 update of ATECO 2007.
Later that month, ITA CB communicated dates of application of new ATECO 2025 classification to production of statistical and supervisory reports under its jurisdiction.
On Mar. 31 Istat integrated own documentation with publication of operational table for reclassification from ATECO 2007 update 2022 to ATECO 2025, accompanied by note.
That, to provide entities managing large registry archives with operational tool for initial reclassification from ATECO 2007-update 2022 to ATECO 2025.
Without prejudice to previously announced application dates, now communicates production of various reporting schemes must conform to set criteria (more details).
Reports re accounting dates prior to Jan. 1, 2026, whether first submissions or corrections of previously submitted data, must be produced using ATECO 2007 classification i.e. using ATECO_CTP (field code 1118), ATECO_CF and ATECO_PAC.
Criterion must thus also be followed in cases where such reports sent during 2026.
Changes linked to ATECO 2025 classification and instructions will be incorporated into Circular 140, Circular 154 and Circular 320 at the first available opportunity.

On Sep. 19, ITA CB issued communication on new NACE classification.
ITA CB issued Communication of Sep. 19, 2024 on new ATECO 2025 classification.
NACE Revision 2.1 classification provides for inclusion of new classifications to represent in more precise way evolution of international production, economic fabric.
At same time, it keeps structure of classifications unchanged if update not necessary.
National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) is currently in process of revising ATECO 2025 classification to detail at national level contents expressed in the NACE Rev 2.1.
ITA CB constantly monitors these developments and has started appropriate analysis activities for adaptation of information and reporting systems to new classifications.
Further communications on application of new classification for production of statistical and supervisory reports will follow, well in advance of the effective date.
Feb. 2025 New Classification
On Feb. 26, 2025, ITA CB issued communication on new ATECO 2025 classification.
Recalls on Dec. 11, 2024 Istat published, together with joint press release of Istat, the Chamber of Commerce and tax system: structure of ATECO 2025 classification to detail at national level contents expressed in EU classification (NACE Rev 2.1).

On Feb. 7, 2025, Istat integrated documentation with publication of correspondence reports between classifications of economic activities ATECO 2025 and 2022 update of ATECO 2007 (so-called correspondence table).
New classification will be adopted in Italy starting from Apr. 1, 2025 to allow its operational implementation by various administrations that use it for primary production of administrative data and for collection, dissemination of statistical data.
ITA CB, taking into account decisions adopted by EU authorities with competences on harmonized reporting, provides in this communication dates of application of new classification to production of statistical and supervisory reports under its jurisdiction.
New classification will be implemented only in new AS; therefore, entities must send NACE of non-resident entities established after Apr. 1 and before May 12 or updated in that period according to NACE classification version 2; specific details on deadlines.
Apr. 2025 Application Delayed
On Apr. 4, 2025, ITA FIU, ITA CB issued communication on application of ATECO 2025.
Reg 2023/137 updated, as of Jan. 1, 2025, NACE, defined by Regulation 1893/2006.
Istat specified classification at national level (NACE Rev. 2.1), adapting coding of economic activities used for production, dissemination of official statistical data.
As coding of economic activities is used by recipients of AML DLgs 231/2007 in context of storage of data and information, reports and communications to ITA FIU, ITA CB-FIU inform deadline for use of new ATECO 2025 is postponed and starts from Jan. 1, 2026.
ATECO is relevant for aggregated Anti-Money Laundering Reports (SARA), Objective Communications (OGG), Communications on Russian Transfers Reg 2878/2023 (TRU): new coding must be used starting from flows with accounting date after Jan. 1, 2026.
Re SOS/STR the new coding must be used in reports from Jan. 1, 2026 onwards.
Technical documents on reports adjustment to be published in due time by ITA FIU.
Till Dec. 31, 2025, current ATECO 2007 classification used aligned with NACE Rev. 2.
Attention of recipients of AML DLgs is drawn to correct compilation of ATECO code assigned to reported subjects, also considering importance of this information for the purposes of selecting and analyzing reports of suspicious transactions and other.
