UK DSIT welcomed UK GVT latest National Procurement Policy statement (NPPS), issued by its Government commercial function saying small businesses will benefit.
NPPS Overview
Sets out public procurement strategic priorities, and how contracting authorities can support delivery; effective on Feb. 24, 2025, alongside the new Procurement Act 2023.
The statement will remain in place until it is withdrawn, amended or replaced, and can be reviewed when the Minister for the Cabinet Office considers it appropriate to do so.
All contracting authorities must consider NPPS as mandated by section 13 of the Act.
Applies to authorities as per sec 2, apart from authorities/procurements in sec 13(10).
Private utilities; contracts awarded under framework or dynamic market; procurements under devolved Welsh or transferred Northern Irish procurement arrangements; plus devolved Welsh authorities or transferred Northern Irish authorities.

UK DSIT said and simplified buying processes means small businesses will have more opportunities to win public sector contracts, bringing jobs and growth to local areas.
Companies winning such contracts will be told to advertise job vacancies locally, with further measures being introduced to cut government waste & drive value for money.

The NPPS and Procurement Act 2023 will come into effect on Feb. 24, 2025.
