Bill Provisions
Prohibits landlords from accelerating rent beyond the end of the month or more than 10 business days after a tenant’s death and notice to the landlord, whichever is later.
Landlord may take possession without court action if the tenant’s estate formally surrenders the unit, or if 30 days have passed since tenant’s death with unpaid rent.
Limits the boundaries of this rule to the death of the direct tenant living in the space.
