On Sep. 12, SIN IMDA issued plan for online document authentication.
SIN IMDA said that online authentication of public documents would be made available from 2025, with an aim of reducing administrative burden for businesses, the public.
Overview of Online Authentication
SIN IMDA and Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) will digitize authentication of public documents for overseas use, to improve efficiency, security, as well as reliability.
This allows Singapore to be the first to authenticate public documents digitally.
Once users upload documents online for digital verification at SAL Legalization Portal, an e-Apostille, a digital certificate of authenticity, will be emailed after verification.
E-Apostille service will cost SGD 10.70 per document; the first phase of e-Apostille will cover documents issued by SIN ACRA such as business profiles, business certificates.
SAL will continue to issue physical apostilles as required; the plans to support documents issued by other public agencies will be announced in due course.
