UN Haiti Sanctions Regime Renewed


On Oct. 18, UN renewed sanctions regime on Haiti for one year.


  • UN Security Council announced it has authorized the renewal for one year of the sanctions regime on Haiti, unanimously adopting Res 2752 (2024).
  • Follows UN Oct. 2023 renewed sanctions regime for one year on Haiti, see #151264.

  • Continues a travel ban and asset freeze; expands scope of arms embargo and designation criteria for measures initially established in Oct. 2022 and later renewed in Oct. 2023 to quell rampant gang violence and restore security in the crisis-torn nation.
  • Decided that the scope of arms embargo, amended in Res 2699 (2023), shall include arms and related material of all types, plus technical assistance, training, financial or other assistance, related to military activities, as initially stated in Res 2653 (2022).
  • Encouraged greater coordination among the security council committee established pursuant to Res 2653 (2022) and its panel of experts, UN integrated office in Haiti (BINUH), UN office on drugs and crime (UNODC) and other regional frameworks.
  • Decision to extend for a period of 13 months the mandate of the Panel of Experts, which, also by the text, was requested by the 15-member council to report on the implementation of the resolution in its regular reporting to the council.
  • Encouraged all member states to regularly inform panel of experts and committee of actions taken to implement effectively the provisions of the present resolution.
