On Mar. 21, FEMA reported White House approved disaster declaration
White House President released Biden's declaration of major disaster and approval of governor's request for individual assistance for severely impacted businesses, people.
In response to severe storms on Jan. 10 and Jan. 13 that caused significant flooding.
On the same day, ME LEG Governor Mills reported disaster aid for January storms.
Eligibility
White House's disaster declaration states that residents and business owners, who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying now for assistance.
Governor's press release mainly addressed assistance to individuals and non-profits.
However, SBA is expected to make low interest loans available to help impacted businesses of all sizes in the form of low interest loans in impacted counties.
Maine coastal counties: Washington, Hancock, Waldo, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, other.
Additionally, anticipated that FEMA, in partnership with Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), will establish Disaster Recovery Centers in impacted areas.
FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) teams will be deployed to Maine to help victims apply for Federal assistance to pay for temporary housing, home repairs, etc.
Mar. 28, 2024 SBA Fed Reg Notice
On Mar. 28, 2024, SBA published federal register notice of the President declaration of major disaster for Maine from storms, floods (FEMA-4764-DR), dated Mar. 20, 2024.
Physical damage loan applications must be submitted to SBA no later than May 20, 2024, Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) must be submitted by Dec. 23, 2024.
EIDLs are available in contiguous ME counties of Androscoggin, Aroostook, Kennebec, Oxford, Penobscot, Somerset and NH counties of Strafford, Rockingham, Carroll.
