MN INS Revises Homeowners Disclosure

On Mar. 12, MN INS revised rules on homeowners disclosure filing.

  • MN INS issued Administrative Bulletin 2024-1: Homeowners Disclosure and Filing (MN INS 65A.28) superseding all MN INS materials on ZIP Code reporting, see #172562.
  • Annual Report
  • Requires insurer writing homeowner's insurance for property in 7-county metropolitan area or a first class city to file annually a report with MN INS on or before May 1.
  • Metropolitan area, per MN LEG 473.121-2, is area of Metropolitan Council jurisdiction including counties of Anoka; Carver; Dakota less Northfield and Cannon Falls.
  • Hennepin less Hanover and Rockford; Ramsey, Scott less New Prague; Washington.
  • First Class cities, per MN LEG 410.01, are Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, and Rochester.
  • Reports may now be submitted electronically; if insurer did not write any policies in the listed areas, they should enter N/A in the relevant blanks on the form provided.
  • Reporting Deadline
  • Applicable insurers must annually file a report with MN IS on or before every May 1st.
